MAMA Landscape Architecture and Urban Designs is an urban planning, landscape and architecture office focused on the urban scale.
Our goal is the generation of an urban life, sustainable and in harmony with nature, in and around cities.
Our approach is based on a meticulous analysis of the geographical, historical, cultural, and social context to design innovative solutions tailored to the needs and desires of users, while addressing the environmental and social challenges faced by modern cities.
Founded by Marine Manchon, architect and urban planner, MAMA draws on her 10 years of experience in renowned practices such as MVRDV, West 8, and Ricardo Bofill Taller de Arquitectura. There, she led international teams and carried out iconic urban and landscape projects in France, Europe, Morocco, and the Middle East.
MAMA Landscape Architecture and Urban Designs emerged from this solid experience, with the ambition to provide designs tailored to each location and attentive to the needs of people and nature. Currently, MAMA is working on projects in Spain, Europe, and the Middle East, combining a wide varety of scales and programs.
Based in Barcelona, MAMA collaborates with a diverse team of architects and landscape designers to provide cutting-edge and sustainable solutions for cities. Our collaboration extends to working with architects, engineers, environmental specialists, lighting designers, signage experts, and acousticians. This collective effort ensures a thorough and holistic approach, providing a complete scope of work for each project.
With a comprehensive vision of architecture and urban planning, MAMA strives to contribute to the creation of welcoming and lively urban environments while addressing the challenges of sustainable development and quality of life in contemporary cities.
Marine Manchon is an architect and urban planner. She embraces a multidisciplinary approach that integrates architecture, urbanism, and landscape. In Rotterdam, Marine initially worked with the MVRDV agency on large-scale urban projects such as the master plan for the Caen Peninsula or the Bastide Niel project in Bordeaux. Her 5-year experience as a project leader at the West 8 agency further solidified her expertise in urbanism and landscape, including notable projects such as major public space projects in Bordeaux and in the Paris metropolitan area, and a 40 ha masterplan in Montpellier. Subsequently, Marine joined Ricardo Bofill's team and served as a Project Manager for three years, contributing to significant architectural and urban projects such as the Royal Arts Complex in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, and the Mohammed VI University project in Rabat, Morocco.
Originally from France, Marine Manchon studied in the architecture schools of ENSA Bordeaux, ENSA Paris La Villette, and Delft University of Technology. Marine is a licensed architect qualified to practice under her own name (HMNOP).
MAMA’s team counts today with three more collaborators: Hilda Aguirre Leon (Landscape Architect), Belen Alvarez Moreno (Architect), Marcos Panayides (Architect).
