À vos briques!
TYPE: Architecture / Scenography
YEAR: 2024
LCOATION: Montpellier, France
SIZE: 36 sqm
TEAM: MAMA
CLIENT: Festivale des Architectures Vives
In June 2024, MAMA presented the installation “À vos Briques” in the courtyard of the Faculty of Medicine in Montpellier, as part of the Festival des Architectures Vives. The Festival’s theme for 2024 was Rythm, in the light of the Olympic Games, happenning in Paris that year.
MAMA chose to honor terracota, and the work was made entirely of bricks, a traditional, natural, and durable material.
The installation, conceived as a living and inhabited landscape, invited each visitor to explore it but also to transform it, thus metamorphosing over the hours and days of the festival. A participatory and collective work, it attempted to demonstrate the infinite possibilities offered by the simple manipulation of a single material, the brick.
The installation is a reflection on simplicity, another demonstration that "less is more."
Designed to be entirely reusable, the project won the Environmental Prize.
At the end of the festival, the bricks were re-packaged and donated to a construction material reuse company.

The installation “À vos Briques” was a huge success! During the six days of the festival, thousands of visitors engaged with it and brought this giant sculpture to life. The participation exceeded our expectations, and we were delighted to interact with the visitors and witness their enthusiasm.
